After its debut at Salone del Mobile.Milano 2026, Sketch out arrives at the new edition of Cruise Ship Interiors Expo Americas, bringing to the contract and marine world a reflection on drawing as the origin of design and as a tool capable of defining relationships, functions, and atmospheres.

The stand reprises the visual language presented during the Salone through an essential installation built on the alternation of black and white surfaces, display platforms, and panels illustrated with drawings by Gianluca Buttolo. Signs, details, and visual fragments guide visitors along an immediate and intuitive path, evoking the different stages of the design process: from the initial intuition to the definition of the object.

Taking centre stage within the space are Ilias 02 and Ilias 04 by Gordon Guillaumier, among the 2026 novelties by Very Wood. The two seating pieces develop a reflection on the archetype through the encounter between wooden structure and upholstered component, creating a calibrated balance between constructive essentiality, comfort, and formal recognisability. Presented for the occasion in natural ash with different textile combinations, they stand out for the sinuous wooden backrest that accompanies the upholstery with natural continuity, creating a fluid dialogue between rigid surfaces and soft elements.

Within the context of naval interiors, Ilias naturally finds its application in lounges, restaurants, and shared areas designed for extensive use, while maintaining a welcoming yet measured presence. The seating pieces thus interpret an idea of hospitality capable of combining comfort, durability, and perceptual quality, contributing to the definition of fluid and coherent environments.

Alongside the Very Wood proposals, Gervasoni presents Gray 24 by Paola Navone, a wooden dining armchair characterised by its enveloping low semicircular slatted backrest. The structure is supported by solid wood legs intersecting in a cross shape, while the optional seat and back cushions further enhance its comfort and softness.

The space also hosts several iconic proposals by Rex Kralj: the Shell chair, designed by Niko Kralj in 1956, stands out for its essential profile obtained from two moulded wooden panels, optionally upholstered in fabric or leather to amplify its tactile qualities. The Mosquito chair, designed by Niko Kralj in 1953, instead captures attention thanks to its distinctive seat composed of two slightly bent wing-shaped panels.

During the days of the fair, visitors will also be invited to take part in a creative workshop conceived as a natural extension of the Sketch out concept. Through cut-outs taken from the historical catalogues of the brands and illustrations created by Gianluca Buttolo, guests will be able to create personalised pop-up books, giving shape to small three-dimensional environments born from the free layering of images, materials, and graphic signs. A direct and manual gesture that transforms drawing into matter, bringing design back to a concrete, spontaneous, and participatory dimension.

With Cruise Ship Interiors Expo Americas, Gervasoni and Very Wood continue the path undertaken in recent years, bringing their research into a new design context and further expanding the reflection on the relationship between function, material, and the quality of experience within contemporary space. An approach that naturally extends into the world of hospitality at sea, where design contributes to creating recognisable and welcoming environments capable of combining comfort, identity, and spatial continuity.
