Marcello Ziliani
Marcello Ziliani, an architecture graduate from the Politecnico with Achille Castiglioni as his lecturer (and unrivalled master), is mainly dedicated to product design with a focus on the aspects of sustainability, ‘human-centred design’ and ‘agile manufacturability’.
He dislikes absolutisms and unshakable certainties, he likes to speak softly and above all listen. He believes that any project is, at bottom, a desire, a hope for flight. And that, sooner or later, ten metres in glide can also be achieved.
He develops projects for the furnishing, complementary, lighting, bathroom, office and early childhood sectors, also dealing with fittings, theatre sets, art direction, communication.
Like everyone else, some more, some less, he has put aside the bare minimum of prizes and awards, held conferences, workshops, served on juries, participated in exhibitions.
He recently received the Archiproducts Design Award ADA 2018, 2021 and 2023, the Big See Production Design 2023, the Good Design Award 2017 and 2019, the Iconic Award 2019 from the German Design Council, two European Product Design Awards 2019, the Red Dot Design Award 2020, the German Design Award 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023, as well as three projects in the ADI design Index.
From 2011 to 2023 he is lecturer of the product design laboratory of the third year of the degree course in industrial design at the University of San Marino, from 2023 he teaches Materials, sustainability and production techniques at the ITS Academy Machina Lonati in Brescia.
He has signed projects for Alf Dafrè, Allibert, BBB, Bertocci, Bossini, Calligaris, Casprini, Ciacci, Ciatti, Crassevig, Creative Cables, Domitalia, Donati, Ethimo, Flex, Flou, Flos, Frascio, Geuther, Inglesina, Infiniti, ISA, Krios, Krover, Lanzini, Magis, Modo and Modo, Norda, Olympia, OMP, Opinion Ciatti, Pali, Parri, Pedrali, Pinti Inox, Progetti, Rapsel, Roche Bobois, Scab Design, Schönhuber Franchi, Sintesi, Techimpex, Vanini, Views International, Verywood, Visentin, Wever & Ducrè, Zago.
